Well, it's that time of the year again when everyone is scurrying around (on both sides of town) to come up with how much more money they'll want you to cough up in their budgets for this year's property tax bills.
Last I heard, the Board of Mythomania is having a 2015-16 school budget presentation at their caucus meeting next week, where Super Dr. Richard 'Looking for the Exit Ramp' O'Malley will unveil his latest bloated offering to the public. Unfortunately, it doesn't really matter what you think since they moved the elections to November and you don't get to vote on the base school budgets anymore. As long as they stay under the 2% cap, they can continue to add 2% every year to those already bloated buckets of money they call a budget. And don't be surprised if you see increases beyond 2% - don't forget about all the exceptions to the '2%' cap!
But hey, it's always entertaining to watch Senor O'Malley explain any numbers. Here's a guy that shouldn't be allowed around any numbers. In the words of Rodney Dangerfield - 'He really tells it like it ain't.'
Just a reminder on last year's school budget - it totaled $217.0 million with a school tax levy of $192.3 million and a school tax rate of $2.733 (per 100). You can see that budget and all those numbers in previous posts.
Pay attention to what goes on over there on Mythomania Lane and see where that school tax rate goes. It's still your money - even though they took your right to vote away.
I'm sure you'll want to see the Board rewarding themselves with more money to $pend after their latest year's performance:
Moving on to Mayor Tom '8%' ChoiLankey's 'DemBadLands.' You remember him - ran on a campaign of stabilizing taxes here in Downtown Edison and, once in office, immediately raised the sewer tax by 35% and 50% for residents and commercials, respectively and then threw in a whopping 8% increase in the Muni-tax rate on top of that and let's not even get into the the amount of debt he created.
Just a reminder in 2014, he took the Muni-tax rate up to $1.205 (per 100), which was an increase of 8.9 Cents or 8% with that tax ambush. That resulted in 59% of last year's total tax increase of 15 Cents (municipal, county & school) going into the township's coffers.
So, what's in store this year from Mayor ChoiLankey & his 'Fresh Start Tour' entourage in the 'DemBadLands?' Another tax ambush to continue funding the township coffers? Hey, at least we have Rob 'March on Trenton' Karabinchak looking out for us. He said he doesn't support another tax increase from Senor Lankey!?! That should help - make you laugh, that is.
Let's hear it for another potential round of tax increases from the Party that made Edison Safe for Hypocrisy here in Downtown Edison:
Anyhoo, get ready to cough up some more of your money to fund the Out of Control $pending that can only happen when you empower people who do the same thing to you every year - and you vote them back in office.
