May 5th Public Meeting on Edison School Budget for 2021-22 - what's the point?!?

Well, looks like the Edison Board of Mythomania, aka Edison Board of Ed-Dems will hold a public meeting on May 5th on the School Budget for 2021-22.

What's the point, other than a legal requirement? It's not like you can change anything. These annual Bloated and Out-of-Control $pending Pots of Money have already been approved by the County Super and you'll have no say in changing anything.

So, let's make sure you understand some things about this Fiscal Year School Budget for 2021-22. It now has $285.6 million in total $pending, which is up $11.4 million or 4.15% over last year.

First, understand that school budgets are done on a Fiscal Year basis from July 1 to June 30th. Since we are taxed on a Calendar year basis for property tax purposes, they have to convert their school budget to a calendar year budget.

All they do is take the second-half of last years fiscal year budget (Jan-June) and add it to the first half of this years fiscal year budget (July-Dec). Now, because it's a mix of two fiscal year budgets, it can result in a change in the calendar year tax rate, as it has in this year's school budget.

It's deceptive and misleading for them Not to explain this to you and why you can't let them claim they've delivered a school budget with no school tax increase. There's a whole bunch of reasons why they wanted no tax increase this year but that's for another day.

There is a school tax increase this year and you can see what yours will be in the calculator below.

So, while this school budget has no change in the Fiscal Year school tax levy and hence, no change in the Fiscal Year School tax levy, it does come with a Calendar Year School tax rate of $3.227 (for the reasons stated above) which is up 6.1-cents or 1.9% over last year.

Be aware that what they are showing as last year's school budget understates the Rateables by some $5.6 million and the school tax rate showing up on your property tax bill last year was $3.166 and not $3.168 as shown in their budget.

So, be that as it may, any comments that this school budget comes without a school tax increase would be deceptive and misleading. It's an example of being truthful but misleading - and yes, you can be both.

Here's what you can expect to see on your property tax bill for the School tax this year:

Finally, just a reminder why these school budgets are what they are and a constant unnecessary drain on the Edison Taxpayers:

There's a difference between Savings and Repurposing when it comes to the School Board. They often claim savings when they really mean repurposing the money. They often claim to save the taxpayers millions but they never do. Savings only happen for the taxpayer when the school tax rate goes down. Repurposing happens when they just reduce the amount of money they spend on one line-item and spend it on another line-item. So, don't be fooled with their claims of saving millions for the taxpayers.

Their School Budgets are just a synonym for Big, Bloated, Out-of-Control $pending 'Pots of Money' that get exponentially carried forward, at your expense, and result in unnecessary and outrageous increases in the school tax rate.

They carry forward excessive and unnecessary $pending every year and expand it exponentially with the 2% cap, use of the Bank Cap (to take back what they previously claimed as a savings) when necessary, hoard taxpayer relief money and build up reserves and engage in budget deception that lets them hire non-budgeted personnel and make other non-budgeted expenditures you never know about. The single biggest expenditure in the school budget is the Salary line - and it's the biggest padded line with its bogus 'breakage' budgeting among other things. It's also the line where the Staffing 'Shell Game' remains alive and well. That's where they add additional non-budgeted staff each year to the payroll and fail to disclose it to you in the public budget they show you.

They often hoard additional aid that comes in after the school tax rate is struck and, more often than not, use it to increase $pending in the following year rather than return it to you.

The 'Public' copy of the School Budget you see is not the same format they send down for County and State approval.

Their budget line items are not always reflective of what they're thinking or where they'll be for the year since (unlike the Muni-budget) they can make budget transfers from line to line anytime they want during the year. It's a deceptive budgeting practice that allows them to later move money around to where they really want it.

They never tell you how they actually performed against these School Budgets they use to strike the School tax rate. A line-by-line comparison would shock you and you would see how bloated these School Budgets really are and how they move money around.

Even when you had the Right to Vote on these School Budgets, you were Never Voting to approve or disapprove the School Budget in total or its individual line-items - You were just Voting to approve or disapprove the School Tax Levy. They know that but You don't and they take advantage of it.

Public Meetings they have are a misnomer. These School Budgets are prepared by the School Board based on what they want - not what you may care about or want and hinder any attempt at public input. What they labeled and called this years's 'Public Meeting on March 18th was held without even presenting a School Budget to the Public, and most likely, to all Board Members. The Bulk of the money to pay for these Bloated School Budgets, year after year, comes from you, the one who pays all the bills - the often neglected and maltreated Stakeholder, the Taxpayer.

This year's $285.6 million School Budget for 2021-22, aka 'Big Pot of Money' (that looks like somebody just picked the school tax rate change they wanted this year and worked backwards) is even more deceptive and egregious than in the the past.

The school board has been infiltrated by the Edison Democrats and that was never good a good idea to move the school board elections to November with all that money in play. Now, with its inept leadership and complete lack of transparency you can see why.

Yeah - you want to trust this guy with $285.6 million when (1) he wasted 2 years on 'solving' the Overcrowding problem with a plan that would of tripled your school tax increase for the next 30 years and was clearly too much of a financial burden for too little a solution, (2) he claims to of saved the taxpayers million when he just repurposes money and saves nothing and, (3) fails to run open and transparent public school board meeting and blocks any attempt at the open and free exchange with the residents.

Why the School Board is what it is today - a dysfunctional political dictatorship of 1:

Anyhoo, until you recognize what goes on there under the cloak of darkness over on Mythomania Lane and put a Stop to it, it's inept leadership will continue to play you for a fool and drain your pocketbooks year-after-year.

Primary Season here in the 'DemBadLands' of Downtown Edison - keep Voting for Democrats!?!

Well, it's the silly season for sure here in 'Downtown' Edison so it's worth some time to remember what the Democrats have done to our property taxes over the years in this one-party town. You know, the Property tax - that progressive tax that's based on a non-cash asset.

Hey, it's better than having to look at all those silly glossy campaign flyers that the various Local Dem-party candidates are putting out telling us what they're going to do.

Barf - here's what the last 3 Dem-party Mayors did to the property tax rate:

And lets not forget about what happened to the Sewer tax since 2013:

And finally here's what happened to the Total Property Tax Rate, which includes the School tax, County tax, Muni tax, Library tax and the Garbage tax since 2003 under the all Dem-party rule:

Silly me - how could I forget the contributions of Charlie 'I Abstain' Tomaro (who never met a tax increase he didn't like) and the County taxes from the Middlesex County all-Dem-party Commissioners.

This is an Excel file (the host site can't handle drop-down boxes) so if anyone wants the file, just hit the Email button and let me know.

Anyhoo, keep voting for the Democrats - they're really going to change things.

Edison Board of Mythomania, aka Board of Ed-Dems disrespectful meeting!?!

Well, leave it up to Jerry 'Referen-Dumb' Shi, the inept leader of the Edison Board of Ed-Dems to show you how Not to run a Board meeting and discourage any questioning by the public.

The guys leadership is the biggest detriment to the School District and the public.

Take it he's not a fan of Super Dr. Bragen's belief in the Socratic method, or Socratic debate - you know where you have 'cooperative argumentative dialogue based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to draw out ideas and underlying presumptions.'

Yeah - can't do that when he blocks any kind of discussion or interaction with the public.

How much longer are we going to allow this guy to shut down the public's attempt to get any responsible and credible answers from this Board?

Where are the rest of the Board Members who sit by and do nothing to combat this disgraceful dictatorship? And seriously, do we really need to hear a Board member say to a resident that 'I don't care about you, I care about everyone else?'

Kudos to Anthony DePasquale for calling out and challenging this Shi-show fiasco and recognize that he's fighting for something you should all care about - truth and transparency from this School Board. Mr. DePasquale is right when he says that they don't care about the public, they only are about themselves. It's never about the public which is why they block any interaction with the public.

Mr. DePasquale making important points that you should pay attention to:

The inept Leadership of Jerry 'Referen-Dumb' Shi:

Here watch the meeting for yourself:

Anyhoo, you should thank the Democrats in this town for allowing this inept leadership to get away with this nonsense.

NJ School Superintendents Base Salaries - 2020-21

Saw this piece in TapInto.net here about NJ Superintendents Base Salaries for 2020-21. It has a table you can sort for the entire state. It's source is the NJ DoE.

The article says that the salaries increased by some 2.9% during the Pandemic with Median Salaries of $174,689, which is up from $168,689.

Here's a quick look at Middlesex County:

Anyhoo, looks like Super Bragen's salary is a bit low - think he was around $255,000 but thought you might find the information interesting.

You know, Spin is all well and good, just as long as you don't believe it!

You know, it's the silly season here and everyone should remember as you read all these fancy campaign flyers coming to your door that one can be truthful and be misleading too.

Take my word for it - misleading people to get their vote is Not a good thing but nothing new in the 'DemBadLands' of Downtown Edison.

Take, for example, this Edison First flyer where School Board Member Ms. Peng - who is now running for Council claims to of delivered a 0% school tax increase.

Well, that's truthful if you look at the fiscal year school budget for 2021-22 but Misleading if you understand that we're taxed on a calendar year basis for the school budget.

If you look at the school budget for 2021-22 from their website below, you'll see how that works and you'll see that the school budget for 2021-22 resulted in a $107 school tax increase on the average home of $180,392 for the 2021-22 school year.

Now, why is it misleading? Because they are taking advantage of the overall lack of knowledge about how the school tax is determined for property tax purposes. They could of simply explained what that 0% fiscal year tax change meant and why and how you would see it on your property tax bills when converted to a calendar year basis - but they didn't.

Of course, Peng comes from a school board led by none other than Mr. Shi-shed - who often makes outlandish claims about savings that only exist in his own mind and not on your school tax bills:

So, they leave you to believe their 0% school tax claim and hoping your own eyes don't see that $107 school tax increase on the school districts's website.

Here's the Adopted School Budget for 2021-22 from their website:

Now, it's really not important to me since I won't be supporting this ticket's effort in the Primary but you should be aware of what they are trying to sell you - a Misleading truth.

Anyhoo, at least we're comforted in the knowledge that people will claim anything in the silly season.

Sam 'the Weathervane Millennial' Joshi - the County Dem-Party endorsed candidate for Mayor - selected in the Most Un-Democratic way!

Well, Sam 'the Weathervane Millennial' Joshi, aka Big-boy pants didn't even participate in the Local Dem-party's screening process for Mayor along with Bhagia, Brescher and Shah - yet he was picked to replace Bhagia for the County Dem party-line over the other candidates or better yet, an open Primary process.

Ask yourself Why that happened.

So, here we go again - another silly unsolicited flyer received (and again ignoring the request to be removed from the mailing list) marked-up to point out the obvious:

You'd think someone who wants your vote in a democratic process would be the first to object to the Un-Democratic process that picked him.

Anyhoo, what do I know - someone once described 'Democracy' as two wolves and a sheep taking a majority vote on what's for dinner. Think about it - and take a wild guess who will be the dinner with this hand-picked guy!

Just another 'Tool' for what's Wrong with this town!

Well, received two more glossy Sam 'the Weathervane Millennial' Joshi, (aka Big-boy pants) flyers in the mail again.

Clearly, I am not a supporter of Mr. Big-boy pants for Mayor and specifically asked to be taken off the mailing list. I'm a Democrat but surely not his kind of Democrat and will not be giving any serious thought to his delusional thoughts that he is capable of or even remotely prepared to be Mayor of Edison. He's more a political opportunist than a political force and we just don't need more of the same political nonsense in this town.

So, if you continue to send me these ridiculous flyers that actually prove you have no meaningful experience or record to run on - then I will continue to treat them like the joke that they are to me:

Anyhoo, don't be fooled by this Joshi nonsense and think this guy is the future of Edison - he's just a continuation of the Dem-party oligarchy here in the 'DemBadLands' of Downtown Edison!

Excellent piece by Edison Democrat Committee Person John Hsu - how much Democracy do we really have in NJ and Middlesex County?!?

Saw this piece here in Insider NJ - 'Edison Episode Provides Insight into the County Line' which is all about your lack of choice.

Another example of why you should vote for the Person, Not the Party - and Not Sam 'the Weathervane Millennial' Joshi, the hand-picked choice of the County Chair.

Recognize these faces:

Anyhoo, at least we're comforted in the knowledge that the People of Edison don't get to decide who can and can't hold office here in the 'DemBadLands' of Downtown Edison.

This is why political endorsements mean little but say a whole lot

Saw this piece here in the NJ Globe - 'Diegnan, Karabinchak pull endorsement of Bhagia, back Joshi for mayor.'

Political endorsements are nice but really don't mean anything. Most Dems will endorse anyone on the ticket, which is why you should always vote for the Person not the Party.

Proof: Just like Diegnan and Karabinchak endorsed Bhagia after he won the EDO vote and before that vote was negated by the County Chair.

Not for nothing but you really have to wonder how Joshi got the nod when he didn't even screen for Mayor and those who did screen were ignored.

Seems the powers that be in the Dem-party want this ill-prepared and incapable political opportunist in the spot.

With so much mass backing from the Dem-party establishment for this novice mayor wanna-be, without any kind of substantive record to rely on, you really have to wonder if it's really about the People of Edison or just about the Dem-party maintaining control and power over the all the money.

Seems to me, the only reason he was hand-picked was to protect the Dem-party interests here in Downtown Edison. He'll just end up being a tool that will be used to keep the status-quo in Edison and that benefits no one except the Dem-party.

Edisam is EdisPam and there's enough Spam in this town for too long:

He's a uniter all right - he can't even unite the Edison Council as Council Vice-President much less the town. Based on his Council performance, he shouldn't even be on the Council much less Mayor.

Yeah Right, things are really going to change in this Dem-party oligarchy town with the Dem-party hand-picked Joshi in charge. Duh!!

The only endorsement that counts is the Vote by all the People of Edison on election day - and that's a vote that can't be negated by the Dem-party.

Anyhoo, what do I know. I still can't figure out where all the help was from these politicians (coming out for Joshi now) for the last three years when it came to the 2017 Racist Flyer - but have time to jump in now to try and help Joshi by telling the residents what to do.

Yeah, good luck with that tad bit of hypocrisy.

Sam 'the Weathervane Millennial' Joshi wiggles his way to the Dem-party line for Mayor in the Primary!?!

Well, saw this piece here in the New Jersey Globe. Seems 'Big-boy pants' gets the Dem-party Organization line for Mayor here in the 'DemBadLands' of Downtown Edison.

Bhagia is out and Joshi is in. Seems they don't like that Bhagia's allies filed their own slate against the organization.

But honestly, who really cares who gets the line from the Local Dem-party?

If they want to go with 'EdisPam I Am,' then good luck with that mistake.

Sorry, but this guy is so hung up in the muck and mire of the internal Dem-party feud and power struggle  and clearly demonstrates he is unprepared to handle the role of Mayor and lacks any degree of trustworthiness based upon his performance on the Council.

To me, he's nothing more than a self-promoter and he represents political egomaniacal narcissism at its worst.

This town is so screwed-up with everything going on these days thanks to politicians like Joshi and his Local Dem-party friends - and it's been that way for years under this one-party rule.

They should of went with an open primary to get away from the stink and waited to hear from the People of Edison before they picked a line - but they didn't.

Good news though is if he does win the primary and goes up against Lankey and/or Hahn in the general election - they will easily take him to Big-boy school and point out how bad he really is and that there's nothing of substance behind his self-promotion.

Anyhoo, while this is amusing - you'd be an idiot to vote for any Democrat in this town anymore with the way they've treated the People of Edison with their one-party oligarchy.

PS: just received another 'EdisPam I AM' flyer in the mail. Not for nothing, but I did ask to be taken off his mailing list in a previous post - I'm not a likely Voter for his run for Mayor, I don't even think he should be on the Council. Be that as it may, if he keeps sending me his silly flyers, then I will continue to make fun of them - with apologies to Dr. Seuss:
