U.S. News Best High Schools Rankings

 Saw this piece in Patch here about the U.S. News & World Report - Best High Schools. No doubt, Edison has always had the Best Teachers.

'And Edison's J.P. Stevens High School did well on the list.

The high school was ranked 27th in the state. With an overall score of 96.87/100, J.P. Stevens was ranked 554 nationally. 

The AP participation rate at John P. Stevens High School is 62 percent. The total minority enrollment is 92 percent and 8 percent of students are economically disadvantaged, according to the report.

Total enrollment is 2,603, with a student-teacher ratio of 16:1.

Meanwhile, the school district's second high school, Edison High School, ranked 156th in New Jersey. The AP participation rate at the school is 30 percent. The total minority enrollment is 79 percent and 25 percent of students are economically disadvantaged.'

Anyhoo, Kudos to the School District's Administration, Teachers, Staff and Families for the recognition.

Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi's Campaign Flyer for his 'Edison Students First' slate for the Boe Election on November 7th

 Well, just saw this campaign flyer for the 'Edison Students First' team. Shi is now seeking a fourth term on the Board.

Shi has a new team for this election cycle since the two sitting incumbents from the last election are not running with him. M. Patel is not seeking reelection and Ginny White is running on a competing slate.

There's a lot of claims being made by Mr. Shi-shed but lets focus on the School taxes and his 'Zero tax increase' in this post.

He claims he 'Spearheaded #ZeroTaxIncreaseMovement' and there was 'No School Tax Increase in last 3 years.' Wonder if Ginny White and the other Board Members want to take any credit for this claim?

Be that as it may, the claim of 'No School Tax Increase in last 3 years' is incorrect. There was a School tax increase 6.2-cents in 2021 taking the school tax rate up to $3.228 (Per 100) from the 2020 rate of $3.166. (Per 100).

There seems to be some confusion here. While it's true that the School Board kept the School Tax Levy the same for the last 3 years, they didn't keep the School tax rate flat. The School tax rate went up, as indicated above, by 6.2-cents in 2021 and down by 3.1-cents and 1.3-cents for 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Now don't get too excited with the reductions in the School tax rate in 2022 and 2023. It had nothing to do with their reducing the $pending. They actually increased their $pending in those years and covered it with all that State-aid money, hoarded money and reserves. 

The reduction in the school tax rate was due solely to the increase in the Rateables.

In fact, if you look at all 9 years of Mr. Shi-shed's service on the School Board, here's the School tax rates you got if you ever looked at the school tax portion of your property tax bills:

Over his 9 year term, the school tax rate went up by 45.1-cents or 16.5% and the school tax levy increased by some $42 million or 22% and he was Board President a few times along the way.

Anyhoo, regardless of his campaign claims - 9 years is long enough and the only Vote for Mr. Shi-shed should be for Forced Retirement.

Edison Board of Mythomania's Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi, aka Mr. Shi-shed - 9 years of ineptitude is enough

 Well, looks like Mr. Shi-shed thinks he deserves another 3 years on the Edison Board of Mythomania, aka Board of EdDems, Board of Dysfunction, Board of Hoarders. Now he's teaming up with Chris Lugo and Anjana Patel for this November's School Board election.

Seems he trying to hide behind Chris Lugo since he's giving him top billing on their Campaign lawn signs. But unfortunatley for Mr. Shi-shed - he can't hide behind Lugo to try and scourge some more undeserving votes.

Just a reminder of some of Mr. Shi-shed's Low-lights:

• Twice-failed $300 million Bond Referendums that were Too Much of a Financial Burden for Too Little a Solution, which left the Overcrowding a major problem.
• Claims to of Saved the taxpayers millions when he Saved the taxpayers Nothing.
• Changed the Board of Ed into the Board of EdDems.
• Disenfranchised both the Public and Fellow Board Members with his dictatorial and inept Leadership.
• Part of that Ridiculous $100 million piecemeal plan that won't solve the Overcrowding with costs running up to twice the original estimates.
• Hoarding $30-$40 million in taxpayer monies.
• Failing to return some $3 million to the taxpayers when they had DoE approval to do so.
• Inept oversight over $352 million in School Budgets and that $75 million they got this year in state-aid.
• Claims Zero School tax increase over the last 3 years but that's Not true. They kept the School tax levy flat over the last 3 years but Not the School tax rate.The School tax rate went up by $5.3-cents in 2022, down by $3-cents in 2023 and down another $1.3-cents in 2024. But don't be misled, in 2024 the $1.3-cent reduction in the School tax rate had nothing to do with their Out-of-Control $pending - it was all due to the increase in the rateables. The $pending actually went up by some $51 million.

Just a Bad Choice for another 3 years that will keep the School District from moving forward. 

The only Vote for Mr. Shi-shed come November 7th should be for Forced Retirement.

Anyhoo, 9 years is enough to have to put up with his ineffective and dictatorial presence on the now Dem-party infested School Board. 

Looks like we have the Mr. Shi-shed's 'Lugo, Shi, Patel' slate for the November Boe Election

 Well, the only thing more nauseating than the inept Mr. Shi-shed trying to hide behind Chris Lugo in this current campaign is Chris Lugo hooking up with him and letting him use him. Yeah, right - It's the Lugo, Shi & Patel team. Geez, you think he wants Lugo's votes?

Lugo's a smart guy and a good guy and normally would have no problem voting for him if he ran alone but you really have to question his judgment in hooking up with Mr. Shi-shed who has been a detriment to the school district moving forward for years. His failure to recognize what a dismal failure Mr. Shi-shed has been over the past 9 years tells me something about him and that's a Game-stopper for me.

That's too bad.

He should run on his own if he wanted to get on the Board so bad.

Anyhoo, on November7th Vote for Mr. Shi-shed for Forced Retirement - you will be doing Yourselves and the School District a favor.

Not for nothing but can you imagine what Mr. Shrink-flation's response was when called out for his 'Big Lie' about the 2023 Muni-budget?

 

Anyhoo, fun aside, remember what they did to you to try and hide his 3% tax increase.

Ah.. the Good Ol' Days when Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi was Jerry 'Needs to Step-down' Shi

 Well, you remember when Mr. Shi-shed tried to push that Ridiculous $189.5m Bond Referendum down our throats that he put together with his band of architects?

Seems Mr. Shi-shed didn't quite like how the Voters recognized it for what it was and Voted it down on December 10, 2019.

Apparently, he didn't quite want to accept the word of the People he supposedly represents and ignored them and went for a 2nd Bite of the Poison Apple the following March 10th.

Bet you don't remember this:

Thankfully, their 2nd Bite of the Poisonous Apple at $302,407,450 Failed again.

Seems there was no end to their diabolical plot to get this done and waste some more of Your money to boot. They budgeted for 3 Bond Elections hoping that after 3 Failed attempts they could go down to the State and have them approve it. 

That's just Not Nice.

So, rather than come up with a plan that would work for the People of Edison, Mr. Shi-shed tried to force in his Ridiculously Overpriced plan that you already said NO too, three months earlier.

What a Guy!

So, tripping down Memory Lane - Jerry 'Needs to Step-down' Shi, who wouldn't step-down, needs some help with a Vote of 'Forced Retirement' on November 7th. 

He ignored your wishes that would of put a serious burden on Your School Taxes for something that wouldn't of solved the Overcrowding - So, Don't ignore him when you Vote on November 7th

There's No Trust you should rely on here:

Anyhoo, 9 years of holding the School District back with his ineffective and dictatorial presence is just too much.

 Well, you remember that Ridiculous $189.5 million Bond Referendum that Mr. Shi-shed and his band of architects put together back in 2019. You know, the one that with interest would cost some $312.7 million and with only $43.6 million in state aid - with a net cost to You of $269.2 million.

The one that would of added double that current year's school tax increase for the next 30 years.

Too Much of a Financial Burden for Too Little a Solution - the Residents knew it and Voted it down - twice.

 Well, you gotta appreciate the inept dictatorial Leadership style of Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi, aka Mr.  Shi-shed.

You really have to appreciate how he treated the 'Stakeholders' who pay the bills over there on Mythomania Lane, the Resident/Taxpayers, during public meetings.

Anyhoo, long past due to send this 9 year albatross around the necks of the People of Edison into Forced Retirement on November 7th. 

A town full of 'Big Mistakes' but you can Correct one of them in the November School Board Election.

 Well, there were 3 Mistakes prior to the last election that should of been noticed but weren't:

You now got Mayor Sam 'The Big Lie' Joshi, aka Mr. Shrink-flation, Big-boy pants, the Weathervane Millennial, the Malleable Marionette, the Event Planner and Sam the Flim-flam man. Kind of sums this guy up.

Good luck dealing with this inexperienced, immature, & insecure political neophyte who has no idea what he's doing, and is very good at it.

Then, there was the Edison 1-cent Open Space perpetuity tax, aka Fool's tax that you were tricked into taxing yourselves so the Politically corrupt Local Dem-party could have some more of your money to waste - for perpetuity.

Finally, a mistake that you should of corrected a long time ago. Jerry ReferenDumb' Shi who with 9 years on the Board has been a dismal failure and remains to this day a detriment to moving the School District forward.

However, you have another opportunity to Correct this Mistake come November since he's seeking his 4th term on the School Board. A guy who failed miserably with addressing the Overcrowding and single-handedly changed the Board of Ed into the Board of Ed-Dems. A guy who can't be bothered with differing opinions or engage in any discussion that disagrees with what the wants to do. When he's challenged, he can't defend himself or his position and shuts everyone down. 

It's his way or the highway - something you don't want in a Board of Ed Member.

Can you imagine what you could do with $352 million School Budgets, along with loads of Hoarded Money and the latest $75 million in state-aid, if you Spent it the Right way? You never will know as long as Mr. Shi-shed is on the Board.

 Anyhoo, the only Vote for this guy come November should be for 'Forced Retirement' - 9 years of holding the School District back with his ineffective and dictatorial presence is just too much.

 Well, just saw the list of candidates running for the Edison School Board come November. There are 8 candidates running for 3 seats, which includes 2 Incumbents with 1 Incumbent (Mohin Patel) Not seeking reelection.

Seems Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi, aka Mr. Shi-shed is running for his 4th term on the Board. Geez, if there ever was a person to point to for the dire need for term-limits or Forced Retirement - it's Mr. Shi-shed.

He is, arguably the worst thing to ever fill a Seat on the Board of Mythomania, aka Board of Ed-Dems, Board of Hoarders, Board of Delusion and Board of Dysfunction - much less Lead it. His leadership was inept, his inability to properly address the Overcrowding for years as well as his inability to work with the Public and other Board Members is infamous. He makes bogus claims of 'Saving the taxpayers' millions when he never saved a dime for the taxpayers. He's always open to the opinions of others, as long as they agree with him. More of a self-empowering mini-dictator than an effective communicator and team builder needed to move the School District forward.

This guy needs to be Permanently Voted into Forced Retirement come November.

Haven't seen such an abuse of the Residents & Taxpayers under his 12 years of 'Wasteful time' on the Board since a Former Board President extended a then Super's contract after only 13 months into a 3 1/2 contract - and we ended up paying some $500,000 for that Super to Sit at Home.

There's more to say about his time on the Board but enough for now.
