Well, took a look at the agenda for tonight's Board of Mythomania's meeting which says approval of the 2024-24 Preliminary Budget.
Seeing that, didn't see the Resolution needed to be approved before they could send the Preliminary Budget down to the County Super for approval. Seems if they're going to approve something, you might want to see what it is they are approving.
So I asked where's the resolution? I'm told that this meeting is just for the Board's discussion of the 2023-24 School Budget and once agreed upon will be posted on the website tomorrow for approval at next Tuesday's meeting on March 21, 2023.
Now that's nice and all but according to the NJDoe School Budget timetable, the Preliminary Budget has to be down to the County Super on or before March 20,2023 - so you can why I was looking for the Resolution with tonight's agenda.
Be that as it may, will look for the Resolution tomorrow.
Now, more importantly, why is it so important that we all pay attention to this 2023-24 Preliminary Budget when it comes out?
There's a bunch of things going on and this Board is too busy with their petty political in-fighting than fighting for all the stakeholders they purportedly represent.
We're talking about School Budgets that now exceed $300 million dollars (representing 54% of your total property tax bill) and the Board's Leadership and performance over the years has been dismal to say the least.
So why do you want to pay attention to this year's School Budget?
Because they're infamous Hoarders, they sitting on a boat load of money, probably close to $50 million and that's before the $73.5 million in State-aid they got this year, which was $25.9 million more than they got last year. What are they going to do with all that money?
For years now, they continuously fail to properly address the Overcrowding starting with that Bogus $189.5m Bond Referendum that Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi and his band of architects tried to pass twice. The voters properly rejected those plans that would of tripled the school tax increase for the next 30 years. Too Much of a Financial Burden for Too Little a solution. Then there was that Ridiculous $93.5 million plan to add classrooms all over the place and was claimed to be of No Cost to the taxpayers. Yeah right, that works only if you live in Mythomania Land over on Pierson Ave. They couldn't ever provide the support behind their own numbers because it couldn't be done with their estimates.
What's this year's mis-guided plan to address the Overcrowding under the Leadership of Shannon 'Shi-bot' Peng? A bunch of piece-meal Lease-purchase agreements so they can go around the voters for capital additions?
The ETEA Contract is up for renewal and how's that being treated in this School Budget?
What's the School tax rate built into this School Budget and what's the change from last year?
Anyhoo, until you recognize that a dysfunctional Board of EdDems is Not a functioning Board of Education - you'll continue to live with this nonsense.
