Edison Council Passes 'Not to Exceed' Salary Ordinance O.2197-2023 by 4-0 - but has yet to disclose what these positions were currently paying

Well, not for nothing but as you can see from the previous post, there were 14 positions for which they wanted to raise the Max Salary. 

Now, don't really have an issue with a review of the current salaries to see if they're in line with the responsibilities of the positions. However, you'd think the first thing anyone on the Council would do when asked to consider raising the Max Salaries would be to ask how much we are currently paying for these 14 positions so they could have a basis to see if the increases make sense and the Public could be informed before they Vote.

Unfortunately, no-one on the Council did - I know, I asked. 

So, I made an OPRA Request on December 17, 2023 asking for the Names and Current Salaries for those 14 positions plus the 3 positions that were removed in this final Ordinance (Dir. of HR, BA and Cons. Code Official) so we would see if the proposed increases made sense before they Voted. 

Now, you would think that it shouldn't take 7 days to look up 17 salaries and provide that before the Council Voted on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. 

But, Unlucky for You and Me, they waited until the 7th Day at 4:03, a day after they already Voted to approve the Ordinance to send me the following:

 

Seems they need until January 11, 2024 to look up 17 names in their payroll system. I reminded them in response that the OPRA Request was for the Names & Current Salaries as of December 17, 2023, the date of the Request and Not on January 11, 2024 the date of their extension. That's so we can see what they were under the existing and applicable Salary Ordinance before they passed this one on December 27, 2023.

Can you Smell the Stench here? Why wouldn't they provide the current salaries for the positions they wanted to increase Max Salaries for before the Council Voted and why would the Council refuse to ask the Administration before they Voted? Either the Council couldn't or wouldn't provide that information before they Voted. Either way, doesn't make the Council look good.

You then have to ask - Why? Makes no sense and clearly signals that there may be a problem with the current salaries for some of these 14 positions (plus the other 3 that were removed) under the existing Ordinance and there was a rush to pass a new one before year-end.

Whatever the Council issues are for not pursuing the information they needed before they Voted, it Clearly demonstrates that the Council is nothing more that a Bunch of Enablers and Poor monitors of the purse strings in this town.

Anyhoo, this is what happens when you have No Checks & Balances in this Politically-corrupt town and You Keep Voting the Same People back in to do more of the same.

Edison's 'Not to Exceed' Salaries again up for a Vote at tomorrow night's Combined Council Meeting

 Just saw the agenda for tomorrow night and here's the latest update to the 'Not to Exceed' Salary Range List which was reduced down to 14 from the Original 17:

Removed from the Original List:

• Dir, HR - Low $110k to High $195k (up from $175k)
• BA - Low $160k to High $240k (up from $230k)
• Cons. Code Official - Low $100k to High $180k (up from $160k)

Mayor's Salary - No High and Low is a Joke on You.

Good thing Mayor Sam 'the Big Lie' Joshi has this Bunch of purse string protectors with eyes wide shut Voting to increase the 'Not to Exceed' Salaries' - since his 2023 Budget that claims of the first homeowner tax cut since since 1988 actually Exceeded that bogus claim by some 3%. And let's not even mention how the 2023 Total Property tax bills were Overstated by some $518,000 to boot.

Anyhoo, made an OPRA Request to see where the Current salaries for the Original 17 positions fall within these 'Not to Exceed' numbers up for a Vote. Haven't received a response as yet and, hopefully will receive one before they Vote tomorrow night.

Jerry Shi's Farewell Board of Ed Meeting and Doug 'the Barista' Schneider is obviously missing the 'Class' gene

 Well, watched the final meeting of the year for the Edison Board of Mythomania which also happened to be Jerry Shi and Mohin Patel's last meeting as Board Members.

Now clearly, I'm not a fan of Jerry Shi's 10-year tenure on the Board for all the reasons I've stated in this blog over the years. The best thing I can say about him is that he's gone but that's just my opinion as a Resident/taxpayer of his dismal presence, demeanor and performance over the years.

However, I'm not a Board Member and no matter how vehemently one Board Member may disagree with another Board Member, surely you can find something nice to say when someone's term is up.

Which brings me last night's meeting where all Board Members had an accolade or two to share about Mr. Shi - except for Doug 'the Barista' Schneider who couldn't find anything to say and sat there silently.

Seems Mr. Schneider doesn't follow the basic civility Rule to Never Rain on Anyone's Parade or Kick Them when They're Down and that's too Bad. Surely, he could have found something to say after so many years dishing dirt at each other in the political muck and mire that is now the Edison Board of EdDems.

But he didn't and that shows you the Class of the People You elect to the Board of EdDems and who they're serving.

Geez, even I can find something that Jerry Shi and I agree on - when Former Board Member Ralph Errico was complimenting Mr. Shi on their service together and he thanked Mr. Shi for letting him have that awful shade of Red Baseball field at EHS, even I agree with Mr. Shi that it's horrendous and, as I told Mr. Errico back then, for $1.5 million we should of at least gotten a Refund for that Eye-Blinding Shade of Red.

Anyhoo, let's hope they select an 'Adult' to be the next Board of Mythomania, aka Board of EdDems, Board of Hoarders, Board of Dysfunction President come January - if they can find one.

Geez, hard to believe this town could be any more Politically Corrupt than it is now - but they're trying

 Well, just heard some disturbing news that the Council is now considering moving the School Board elections back to April. Looks like the School Board doesn't have enough votes on their own to make it happen, so somebody is bringing it to the Council.

Now, remember how that works - the School Board can do it, the Council could do it and it can be done by Public petition.

Now, don't get me wrong - it was a mistake moving it to November for the very reason you see today - the Boe is a Dem-party political mess, aka cesspool. The rationale was for greater voter turnout only meant greater turnout for the Dem-party, the only party in town. 

Not only did we turn the Boe over to the Dem-party but we gave up our right to Vote on Huge School Budgets (Now over some $350 million) with Out-of-Control and Misguided $pending and no effective Oversight.

There are a lot of reasons why we should move the School elections back to April but just because one-faction of the Dem-party doesn't like the results of the last election - isn't one of them. Particularly since Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi was finally Voted into Forced Retirement. There's someone you don't want to give an early opportunity to join the Board again.

Clearly, this isn't about what's Best for the School District, it's about which faction has Control over all that money in play.

So, let's get serious with this political maneuvering right after the recent Boe election - any attempts to move the School Board elections now should be looked upon with devious purposes and it should have to wait until 2025.

Seriously now, You clearly don't want this bunch below making decisions like this especially when they've got their own issues with oversight and checks & balances. And, not for nothing but who decided to put the township seal on the floor (and not on the wall behind the Council dais) where everyone walks all over it? That's a disturbing decision in itself.

Now don't see the Agenda for tonight's Regular Council Meeting posted yet on the website so don't know if it will show up tonight or not. But hey, there's still one more meeting left in December after Christmas.

Twas’ two weeks before Christmas and those sly little elves,

 ‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ & ‘Mr. Shi-shed’ labored hard to benefit themselves. 

One a neophyte who lied about his tax increase and the other his 9 yr. dismal presence,

with both Lacking Credibility & Trustworthiness since their Public service entrance.

 

One who Sneakily Hiked his Pay from $49K to $75K and to $150K the Council made easy,

and the other claiming a 3 yr. tax reduction while ignoring an Overstated School Tax Levy.

Not remotely caring a tad bit what the People might think, 

they again place Politics before People in spite of the lingering and now prolonged stink.

 

One has a Council that is Still in search of that 2017 Racist Flyer,

and the other doesn’t see his inept presence has left the Board of EdDems in utter mire.

If ‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ were seriously qualified to run this town,

then why is that 2017 Racist Flyer Stench Still Lingering and Bringing Edison down?   

 

One has a now $125k Day Care Provider to Keep the town from Running off the rails,

and the other allows solving the Overcrowding problem to again fail.

 

One is just a figurehead with his inept Stewardship lacking transparency and scrutiny,

now a town Outsourced to the County to the liking and pleasure of the Powers that be.

And the other hypocritically attacks a BoE candidate for ‘Conflicts’ on another slate,

when he had no problem with it when she was his 2020 Running mate.

 

And putting their thumbs to the tip of their noses while laughing at You and Me, 

‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ can’t hide his Malleable Marionette status in town for all to see.

And ‘Mr. Shi-shed’ with his Dem-party infested and corrupted Board of EdDems play, 

shows how his Board presence kept the school district from moving in the right way.

 

They’re not concerned about disrespecting the people of Edison on any given day, 

dubious transparency, misinformation, and cross-contamination is their ruling way. 

‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ should of Never been helped to bypass the Edison People to stay in play,

so he continues with Outside help who now rule over us in their misguided way.

 

So, while we all scratch our heads and say What’s Going On in this town,

‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ will be a Malleable Marionette for the Powers that be with a frown, 

And then there’s the Board of EdDems continuing to rule in their power control way, 

yet still can’t put forth a cohesive plan to solve the Overcrowding on any given day.

 

In this season of giving, ‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ & Mr. Shi-shed’ are Big Mistakes, 

‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ will be controlled by the County Powers that Be with all their usual takes.

And while ‘Mr. Shi-shed’ thankfully will be Removed from his Board role come January, 

we can all see that ‘Mr. Shrink-flation’ will be ‘One & Done’ with this Politically-corrupt weary.

 Well, time to send this guy packing come January 1st. It's been a long year watching this guy embarrass himself by stumbling over his own naiveté at every Council Meeting. 

Clearly, he doesn't recognize that it isn't his job to be pushing Mayor Sam 'Mr. Shrink-flation' Joshi's inept stewardship and agenda at Council Meetings. Not for Nothing but he works for the People of Edison and Not the Mayor.

 Well, clearly the Powers that Be don't want a Public Advocate and after delaying this thing until after the election (too bad Councilman Patil didn't insist on that Emergency Meeting before the Election) - Good luck in ever getting it passed now with this County-controlled Council, aka the Flagship Department for Wards.

Even if they tried to placate you by passing it on Monday, it just would be Vetoed by the County's 'Malleable Marionette' and all the little duckies would fall in a row to give him the necessary Veto.

The Two Worst Political disasters this town has ever known in a long time

 Well, here we have the two worst political things that have ever happened on both sides of this town since we paid $5.6 million for Some Dirt and a Mud Puddle and we paid $500k for a Superintendent of Schools to sit home - Edison Mayor Sam Joshi and Edison Board of Education Member Jerry Shi:

On the one side, we have Mayor Sam 'Mr. Shrink-flation' Joshi, aka The Big Lie, Big-boy pants, the Weathervane Millennial, the Malleable Marionette, the Event Planner, Sam the Flim-flam Man & Mr. Swiper - a Dem-party parasite who sold out the People of Edison for a chance to climb up the politically-corrupt Dem-party ladder. 

Now we have to deal with an inexperienced, immature & insecure political neophyte with no discipline who comes with a demonstrated lack of credibility and trustworthiness and a strong anomaly with the truth - who has no idea what he's doing, and is very good at it.

A town in which he's just a figure-head with his inept stewardship, which is now Permanently Home of the 2017 Racist Flyer and Outsourced to the County by our elected officials.

Unfortunately, a Malleable Marionette of the Powers that Be who put him there and we'll have to wait another two years before they're done using him and then expeditiously kick him to the curb.

On the other side, we have Jerry 'ReferenDumb' Shi aka Mr. Shi-shed & Mr. PAC-Man - who after 9 years on the Board of EdDems including his inept leadership, there's only 3 days you need to worry about his hypocritical, disturbing presence and dismal performance that keeps the School District from moving forward:

A guy who single-handedly failed to fix the Overcrowding with his ridiculous twice-failed $300 million Bond Referendums that were Too Much of a Financial Burden for Too Little a Solution, which leaves School Overcrowding a major problem today. A huge waste of money including providing money for 3 elections to try and force it through - despite the voters wishes.

He changed the Board of Ed into the Board of EdDems.

He disenfranchised both the Public and Fellow Board Members with is Dictatorial and Inept Leadership style and demeanor over his 9 years on the Board.

He tries to claim credit for that $100 million bogus piecemeal (with understated costs) plan that won't solve the Overcrowding yet goes around telling everyone that some costs of that piecemeal plan are running twice the original estimates.

He likes Hoarding $30-$40m million in taxpayer monies. He wouldn't return $3 million to the taxpayers whey they had DOE approval to do so.

He Claims a Zero School Tax Increase over the last 3 years and that's Not true.

He Never has a Problem with Conflicts of Interest on the Board - as long as the Conflicted is Running on His Ticket.

He Spends most of his time competing with and trying to undermine Board Members on the other side of the Board of EdDems in the Struggle to Control and Mis-$pend all this hundreds of millions of dollars.

Fortunately, we have an opportunity to expeditiously send Mr. Shi-shed into Forced Retirement this November 7th and prevent a disturbing and dysfunctional presence to go beyond 9 years.

The only Vote for Jerry Shi on November 7th should be For Forced Retirement.

There are two Undeniable truths in this one-party town:

• We allowed the County to hand-pick an ill-qualified Dem-party Ladder Climbing Puppet to do their bidding.
• No matter how much money the Board of Mythomania wastes with their $100 million piecemeal plan, Overcrowding will never be solved in this town until they build a new school.

Edison Council passes Introduction of the Public Advocate Ordinance by a Vote of 6 to 1 - and guess who Voted NO?

 Well, looks like Council President John ' the Puppet's Puppet' Poyner did everything he could to try and Stop moving the Ordinance along and even with all that - he still Voted No to just the introduction.

While the Introduction of the Public Advocate Ordinance passed by a vote of 6 to 1 last night, it’s a Big Mistake to continue this delay game and not have an Emergency Council meeting to get everyone on the record before the election.

They’re leaving the door open for Mayor Sam ‘The Big Lie’ Joshi aka Mr. Shrink-flation, Big-boy pants, the Weathervane Millennial, the Malleable Marionette, the Event Planner, the Emperor Has No Clothes and Sam the Flim-flam Man’s future Veto to succeed.

Geez, with all these games going on, You seriously think his Puppet-Masters want a Public Advocate and can’t get enough votes from this Council to support the Veto down the road?

It’s not like this Council hasn’t turned the other cheek when it comes to Mr. Shrink-flation’s dubious deeds. Remember this is the same Council that did nothing to correct the Overstated Final Property tax bills that Mr. Shrink-flation used to try and hide his nearly 3% 2023 Muni-tax increase by overstating the School tax rate that brings an erroneous $516k into the township coffers.

You’ll be disappointed in the ultimate outcome if you let them continue to play this delay game and let them escape by putting it off until after the November 7th election.

It won’t matter who flips then - lest you forget who’s running this town now, it’s Not the Malleable Marionette - and it’s Not You.

Wake-up and smell the stench of this one-party rule over this town, which is now Home of the 2017 Racist Flyer and has Outsourced its governance to the County. At least, Start doing something about it by voting out all the Incumbents as they come up for reelection.

Seriously, this guy needs to Recognize what everyone else sees - he's just a 'Tool' for pushing Joshi's agenda forward and his actions and lame biased arguments leave a lot to be desired and it's embarrassing now - and just like his Puppet Master, he has no idea what he's doing and is Very Good at it. 

Anyhoo, someone on the Council needs to put this guy in a Time-out. If you're not going to easily point out his bogus arguments, at least Stop letting him make himself look Silly.

 Well, got a chance to see Monday's Worksession regarding the Public Advocate. Seriously, enough of this Edison 'Clowncil' Nonsense trying to 'Deep 6' what the People in Edison CLEARLY want. Not for nothing but this 'Clowncil' is really holding true with their Pecking order of importance in that disgraceful performance:

• Dem-party
• Themselves
• Residents & Taxpayers

Clearly, the Powers that Be who now control their hand-picked Malleable Marionette of a Mayor would Not want to see a Public Advocate in this town. You should clearly see it if you watch that meeting and see John 'the Puppet's Puppet' Poyner embarrass himself trying to stall it. 

Not sure why this guy is still there since he's clearly biased and dutifully and blindly doing Mr. Shrink-flation's bidding.

Be that as it may, here's what you County-controlled Council Members should do. It's election time, so just put up the Ordinance and Pass it before the Election - so you can fool the People of Edison thinking you're on their side and Represent them. Make sure you call an Emergency Meeting so you can get it before the November 7th election.

Then you can have Mayor Sam 'The Big Lie' Joshi, aka Mr. Shrink-flation Veto it after the election. Certainly the County can get 5 Votes to support the Veto.

You know, typical Dem-party Hypocrisy and Lies that go on in this town - just like Mr. Shrink-flation' Joshi when he was for Wards before his election, then against it once he got elected.

Wake-up People - it's a joke and the joke's on You. You're never going to see a Public Advocate with a 'Clowncil' controlled by the Powers that Be - and that ain't You.

Anyhoo, if anyone on the Council Votes No for a Public Advocate, after correcting any legal flaws, then You Should Recognize who they Represent - and WAKE-UP to it's NOT YOU.

 Well, after 9 years on the Board of EdDems, there's only three days you need to worry about his hypocritical, disturbing presence and dismal performance that keeps the School District from moving forward:

What makes for a Good Council Member - from a Former Edison Resident

 Well, saw this list of things from a former Resident of 'Downtown Edison' that you should look for in a Council Member:

So what makes a Good Council Member in town government, she ponders - and answers.

• An effective council member puts the law, code, and citizens first, regardless of personal benefit or bias. 
• They choose to set aside preconceived ideas and personal likes/dislikes, and consistently achieves the highest level of adherence to the oath of office. 
• They are an example of compliance and hold the highest regard for the law they are deciding on. 
• They show proven performance and Commitment
• Time and Financial Resources to Serve. ...
• Understanding of Teamwork. ...
• Sound Judgement and Integrity. ...
• Communication and Good “Teaching" Skills. ...
• Ability to Subordinate Special Interests. ...
• Strategic Thinking.

And then offers this advice:

• Look at all the current council candidates and see who measures up. 
• Who are the new players and what do they bring to the table? 
• Who is the Incumbent and what is their track record while in office? 
• Do your homework, - and vote smart and with knowledge. 
• You have 15 days to get it done.......

Now, it's obvious she doesn't live here in Edison anymore - Home of the 2017 Racist Flyer and Outsourced to the County by their Hand-Picked Malleable Marionette of a Mayor.

Clearly, she must not live in a one-party town anymore where the Pecking Order for Council Members is as follows:

• Self-serving interests
• Residents & taxpayers

Can you imagine our Group of Incumbent Council Members meeting any of that criteria?

 Well, when they stick their head in the sand and go along with Mayor Sam 'The Big Lie' Joshi, aka Mr. Shrink-flation Overstating the 2023 Final Property tax bills to try and hide his nearly 3% Muni-tax Hike, then they're really just trying to appease the powers that be and keep their position on the Dem-party line and the Council.

The only interests they're Representing are their own.

Just remember in this town - there are no political friends, no political enemies - just political opportunities.

It's insightful when they look at the 2023 Property tax bills with eyes Wide-shut when the Published 2023 School Budget came with a School tax rate of 3.184, highlighting they're just Looking out for their own interests and Not Yours - the People of Edison. And why should an erroneous $516k going into the township coffers at Your expense - matter to them when they're up for reelection?

Anyhoo, in this one-party politically-corrupt town with their bought Dem-party line, there's no doubt they'll get reelected (minus Ship-Freeman) but at least they'll know, it won't be with my vote.

Wow..that was a School Board Meeting that Should Make Us All Proud - especially the Kids.

 Well, good thing there's No Politics over there on Mythomania Lane. Between apologies for Pacs supporting the Shi ticket, conflicts-of-interest accusations, outright name-calling of and interruptions of residents by Board Members and trying to shut down the Public portion when the Public was speaking - you really got to hope that any of the Kids in the district - weren't watching.

Clearly, the fight for control of the Board of EdDems in this election has driven the Board off the rails and you really need to get rid of this 'Shi-squad' in this November election for trying to Stop public discussion of what should be important to all Voters to hear about this election - before the election.

Board President Shannon 'Shi-Bot' Peng was awful in the lead by trying to paint questions about a Pac set-up by the Board Attorney with a flyer going out supporting the 'Shi ticket' as political and couldn't even control herself and another Board Member from name calling, constant interruptions and attacking those residents raising the questions.

Doesn't matter which side of the Dem-party War you are in this town - inappropriate behavior is inappropriate behavior.

Clearly, Peng is to Shi what Poyner is to Joshi on the Muni-side - a total 'Tool' for the inept Shi and his political shenanigans in an attempt to get a Ridiculous 4th term on the Board.

Kudos to Tony Depasquale, Brett Baker and Nick Fagan for asking the questions that need to be asked during this election.

He tries to claim credit for that $100 million bogus piecemeal (with understated costs) plan that won't solve the Overcrowding yet goes around telling everyone that the some costs of that piecemeal plan are running twice the original estimates. He wants to claim credit for doing something while trying to blame others for the doubling costs.

5. He likes Hoarding $30-$40 million in taxpayer monies.

4. He wouldn't return $3 million to the taxpayers when they had DOE approval to do so.

3. He Claims a Zero School tax increase over the last 3 years that's Not true. They kept the School tax Levy flat over the last 3 years but Not the School tax rate. The School tax rate went up 5.3-cents in 2022, down by3.1-cents in 2023 and down another 1.3-cents in 2024. But don't be misled, in 2024 the 1.3-cents reduction in the School tax rate had nothing to do with their cuts to their Out-of-Control $pending - it was all due to the increase in the Rateables. The $pending actually went up by some $51 million.

2. He Never has a Problem with Conflicts of Interest on the Board - as long as the Conflicted is Running on His Ticket.

1. He Spends most of his time competing with and trying to undermine Board Members on the other side of the Board of EdDems in the Struggle to Control and Mis-$pend all those hundreds of millions of dollars.

If this town had any more politically-corrupt clouds hanging over it's local stewardship and checks & balances, some of this 'County Slate' would need a proctologist so they could see again.

Simple question - is the Edison Council actually looking at the Overstated Final 2023 Property Tax Bills with Eyes Wide-shut?

 Well, kind of hard to believe that with the 3rd Qtr Estimated Tax Bills and the Mayor's 2023 Muni-budget Presentation both using an Overstated 2023 School tax rate of 3.191 that the Edison Council has yet to do anything about it.

The $352 million School Budget was adopted way back in early May 2023 (long before the Estimated tax bills went out and the Mayor did his 2023 Muni-budget Presentation) and it came with a School tax rate of 3.184, which was down 1-3-cents from last year's 3.197.

The FY School tax levy has been the same $235,013,168 for the last 3 years and therefore, the 2023 CY School tax levy is the same $235,013,168. A simple division by the 2023 Rateables of $7,380,324,900 gives you a 2023 School tax rate of 3.184.

Here's the School District's calculation of their 2023 School tax rate from their School Budget Presentation:

By overstating the School District 2023 tax rate by 7/10's of a Penny (3.191 vs. 3.184), it erroneously brings in approximately $500,000 into the township coffers. 

That's a tad bit Not nice.

Anyhoo, if this is allowed to go unchecked by the Edison Council and they don't Stop that erroneous $500,000 from going into the township coffers, then you need to be the checks & balances over the purse strings in this town and Vote them out of office when they come up for Re-election.
